Charles Russell Speechlys advises on the acquisition of the Douglas & Gordon property sales business

min read

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised James Evans on the acquisition of the Douglas & Gordon (D&G) property sales business from Foxtons, for an undisclosed sum.

In March 2021, London-listed Foxtons Group acquired D&G with Charles Russell Speechlys advising the selling shareholders. Since then, D&G has continued to perform extremely well having benefited from improved market conditions. After careful consideration, the Foxtons board concluded that disposing of the sales business to D&G’s management and integrating the lettings business into the Foxtons network was the most attractive option.

Commenting on the deal, James Evans, said: “Acquiring the sales operation of Douglas & Gordon is hugely exciting and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead D&G as an independent brand. I’m very grateful to David, Mike, and the wider Charles Russell Speechlys team for supporting us with their hands-on legal advice and helping us navigate through the acquisition process on this significant transaction.”

Partner David Coates at Charles Russell Speechlys added: “It was a real pleasure to work with James and his senior management team on the acquisition of the Douglas & Gordon sales business. We advised when the business was originally acquired by Foxtons and look forward to seeing the D&G brand go from strength to strength under James’ leadership”.

The Charles Russell Speechlys team, led by David Coates, included Mike Barrington and Hilde Braaten Resseth (all Corporate), Sara Wilson (Employment), Helen Coward and Graham Crocker (Tax).
