Fraudulent or 'scam' Communication
Warning: scam emails claiming to be from Graeme Kleiner
Because Graeme Kleiner is a leading individual in his field, you MAY RECEIVE emails from persons pretending to be him, often offering you an unexpected legacy or other surprise benefit. These persons are all fraudsters and their invitations should be deleted immediately upon receipt. You do NOT need to report these attempts to the firm as we are aware of them.
Warning: bogus telephone calls
We are aware that, in common with many businesses, a number of fraudulent telephone calls have been made by someone claiming to be a Mr Johnson from Charles Russell Speechlys. This person has been calling individuals asking them for payments in order to release other monies held.
These calls are not genuine; they are not from Charles Russell Speechlys but are part of a scam where our name is used illegally and without authorisation.
Should you receive a call of this type, please DO NOT, under any circumstances, provide your personal details. If you have any suspicions, please call your regular Charles Russell Speechlys contact.
Cybercrime is on the increase. Communications purporting to be from this firm changing details of a bank account of ours to which monies are to be sent, are almost certainly not genuine. Always try and verify any request for funds by making a phone call to the person dealing with the matter at this firm and whose voice you recognise. Otherwise contact us at the telephone number or email address on our website and not on the communication you have received.
Warning: fraudulent or 'scam' letters, faxes and emails
Particularly in the Private Wealth and Private Client field, fraudsters may pretend to be part of, or authorised by, Charles Russell Speechlys and in doing so attempt to carry out ‘scams’ or frauds. These may involve offering a large sum of money to the recipient such as an inheritance or unclaimed bank funds, either in return for paying a modest sum (often referred to as transaction fees or brokering costs) or requiring the recipient’s identity details.
An example is an email or other communication telling the recipient that he or she is a beneficiary under the Will of a recently deceased and very wealthy individual.
Another example involves a loan application form which purports to be sent by one of our partners. Applicants are asked to pay a substantial fee in advance of receiving the loan.
Charles Russell Speechlys has no involvement with such communications, which are an improper use of its name and other details and the name and details of our partners and staff.
If you receive a communication of this nature purporting to come from Charles Russell Speechlys or someone on its behalf, you should not respond to it.
