Richard Davies writes for City AM on the lessons that the Premier League can learn from the Super Bowl and NFL

min read

This month saw the conclusion of the Super Bowl in the United States - the annual league championship game of the National Football League (NFL), and one of the biggest global sporting events of the year.

Coinciding with the Super Bowl, Richard Davies, Partner in our commercial team, was invited to write an opinion piece for City AM on some of the commercial lessons that the UK's Premier League can potentially learn from the NFL.

In the piece, Richard covers a number of different areas, ranging from the need to strike a "delicate balance between commercial pursuits and the preservation of traditions and local fanbases", to the NFL operating under a 'closed league' structure in sharp contrast with the Premier League, which allows US teams to "focus on long-term investments without the fear of the financial cliff edge of relegation".
