BE News quotes Louise Ward on the Autumn Statement and life sciences support

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced a series of measures detailed within the UK’s Autumn Budget to boost the life sciences sector, including a £520m funding commitment for manufacturing.

Louise Ward, Partner, comments on the measures for BE News:

“The life sciences sector will be pleased to remain at the forefront of the government’s mind, having been handed £520m in Jeremy Hunt’s statement. The announcement that ‘full expensing’ will be made permanent will renew confidence for businesses in the sector, which typically invest millions of pounds in state-of-the-art machinery to support their work.

"It’s also positive news for the real estate sector, which is investing more and more heavily in delivering the right space for life sciences occupiers, with multiple new developments in the Golden Triangle of Oxford, Cambridge and London coming in the next couple of years. As the countdown to the next election gathers momentum, we expect to see both main political parties jockeying for position as the lead supporter of this vital growth sector for the UK.”
