The Financial Times quotes Paul Stone on Ofcom's probe into competition and big tech in the cloud market

The UK is to scrutinise the role of Amazon, Microsoft and Google in the country's £15 billion cloud services market, with communications regulator Ofcom warning it will take action if competition concerns are identified.

Paul Stone, Senior Counsel, provides comment for the Financial Times:

"The probe may act as a catalyst for a full-blown market investigation, which could have a significant impact on big tech firms”.

He continues:

“Given that Ofcom appear to be concerned about market entry, measures they could implement include limiting any exclusivity arrangements used by the ‘hyperscalers’ or requiring interoperability with new players”.
