European Commission opens in-depth investigation into the proposed acquisition of Fitbit by Google
The European Commission has opened an in-depth phase 2 investigation to assess the proposed acquisition of Fitbit by Google. The Commission is concerned that the proposed transaction would strengthen Google's market position in online advertising by increasing the amount of data that Google could use for personalisation of the ads it serves and displays.
