About

Tun has over fourteen years’ experience advising on a broad range of corporate transactions in the UK, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. He has advised on investments, mergers and acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures in developed as well as emerging markets. In addition to corporate transactions in Asia, Tun regularly advises Asia based clients on their real estate investments in the UK/Europe and global clients on their investments and businesses in Asia. 

Tun has particular experience in the Real estate, Energy & Natural Resources, Financial Services.

Tun’s experience also includes advising on the drafting of the Myanmar Companies Law 2017 and a secondment to WorldPay’s in-house legal team in London in 2011.  

Tun is ranked as a “Leading Individual” and “Next Generation Partner” by leading legal directories for his extensive experience and expertise in Myanmar. He was also recognised in the LexisNexis 40 under 40 list for Asia Pacific in 2023.

Tun is admitted to practise in England and Wales, and is also authorised to practise Singapore law (under section 36B of the Legal Profession Act 1966, to the extent permitted under the firm’s Foreign Law Practice licence).

Experience

  • Advised an Asian investor on setting up a joint venture to invest in the purpose-built student accommodation sector in the UK.
  • Advised a regional private equity fund on its strategic investment in a microfinance business in Myanmar and on subsequent acquisitions and shareholders’ matters.
  • Advised Kingboard Holdings, the Hong Kong listed manufacturing company, on its £302 million corporate acquisition of 2 London Wall Place, a multi-tenanted flagship development in the heart of the City of London from Brookfield Asset Management.
  • Advised an international renewable energy fund on its acquisition of majority interests in multiple operating onshore wind farms in Taiwan for consideration in excess of EUR100 million.
  • Advised an international infrastructure fund on its acquisitions and disposals of minority interests in various offshore wind farm projects in Taiwan.
  • Advised a group of vendors, including Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd. and First Myanmar Investment Public Company Limited, in relation to the reorganisation and listing of their tourism-related business on the Singapore Stock Exchange through the reverse takeover of Catalist-listed SHC Capital Asia Limited.
