Simon is an experienced real estate litigator, acting on a range of commercial and high value residential real estate disputes. He takes a commercial approach, aiming to resolve disputes at an early stage.
On the commercial side, Simon has acted in a number of contested business tenancy renewals, break notice and forfeiture cases. He also regularly advises developers in disputes concerning restrictive covenants and easements.
Simon has a growing practice in dilapidations, with a focus on resolving matters swiftly and cost effectively for landlords and tenants alike. Simon is also experienced in complex rent review cases, recently defending a substantial claim for backdated rent.
In residential property, Simon has had a number of recent successes in the First Tier Tribunal and County Court. These have included breach of covenant disputes (for example a case concerning use as an Airbnb), proceedings for the appointment of a manager and a range of complex possession cases. Simon also regularly acts in home ownership disputes.
