He also advises couples who are not married or who are in a Civil Partnership on issues arising on relationship breakdown, such as property disputes, child contact and residence and financial claims for the maintenance of children.
Richard has particular expertise in cross-border jurisdiction disputes and handles complex financial, business and international matters which can include off-shore trusts and tracing assets. He speaks French and German and is a member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
Richard is also a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer and is a member of Resolution. He is a regular contributor to the media on topical family issues and is co-author with Tanya Roberts of “Living Together - Is Marriage the Better Buy?”. Richard is listed in Spear’s 2016 Top 50 Family Lawyers.
Richard is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
- Richard acted for the applicant wife in the reported High Court case of W v C (Financial Remedies: Appeal: Non-Disclosure)  2 FLR 115 to set aside a consent order on the basis that the husband had failed to make full and frank disclosure of his financial position and had applied improper pressure in securing her consent to the order. Successful in application for permission to appeal (NLW v ARC  EWHC 55) and also in the substantive appeal. This was a complex case involving asset tracing and forensic investigation of offshore corporate structures
