Mariam Al-Mashehadani

Associate

Mariam is an Associate in the Common Law Disputes team in the Dubai office. She is a bilingual English qualified Solicitor with experience in all forms of dispute resolution, both in the UAE and the UK.

About

Mariam’s experience includes multi-million-dollar arbitration disputes, as well as a broad range of litigation matters involving applications related to strike out, limitation, enforceability of governing law clauses, contested jurisdiction with JJC proceedings, pre-action disclosure, Norwich Pharmacal Orders and Banker’s Trust Orders.

Prior to her current role, Mariam was a senior judicial assistant to the Senior Judges and the Court of Appeal of the DIFC Courts, where she played an integral role drafting judgments and providing legal assistance to the DIFC Judges. Mariam previously worked in London for a Tier 1 boutique commercial law firm where she was involved in a number high-profile and complex matters, including 1MDB and the SFO investigation into a Barclays’ senior executive.

Mariam is fluent in English, Arabic (native and legal). Mariam is admitted to practise in England and Wales.

Experience

  • Advised a Group company in a London seated LCIA Arbitration in respect of a multi-million-dollar shareholder dispute involving a GCC sovereign owned entity.
  • Advised an English law firm on the enforcement of a Cypriot judgment in Onshore UAE, pertaining to issues of liquidation.
  • Advised a UAE corporate entity on contesting a DIFC Courts Part 8 application to remove shareholders as part of a multi-jurisdictional dispute over IP rights.
  • Advised the UBO of a luxurious fashion brand on the termination of a licensing agreement, interim measures under UAE law and options for enforcement.
