Jonathan has wide ranging experience in general Corporate and Commercial law matters, advising on domestic and cross-border Corporate M&A transactions, Asset Purchase transaction, Joint Venture arrangements, Shareholders’ Agreements, Terms and Conditions and Supplier, Services and Operations contracts for both local and international clients.
Jonathan has experience of Banking and Finance transactions in the region, advising local Shariah compliant banks in connection with Commodity Murabaha transactions, Ijara documents and Wakala arrangements, as well as conventional banking transactions, and security suites that accompany such transactions.
Jonathan has a thorough understanding and appreciation for both private practice and in-house demands. Jonathan has been undertaking a part-time physical secondment with Gulf Air (Bahrain’s national airline) legal team two days a week alongside his role in the CRS Bahrain office, which he has been doing since October 2021.
Jonathan is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
Experience
- Advising Kuwait Finance House (Kuwait) in connection with its sale of Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain) to Al Salam Bank.
- Acting for an Islamic Bahrain based bank in connection with three separate Commodity Murabaha Facility transactions with a combined value of US$160+.
- Advising Gulf Air B.S.C.(c) in respect to its contract standardisation project, producing 50+ template commercial documents for use with its international operations.
- Advised CapitaLand Singapore on the sale of its 49% shareholding to its joint venture partner, Mubadala (Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund).
- Advising on the establishment of a Private Investment Undertaking in Bahrain (regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain).
