James is an Associate in the Family team. He advises on divorce and financial remedies, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and private child law matters, including child arrangements and relocation.

James frequently acts for high-net-worth clients, including entrepreneurs, professionals and landowners, in matters that often involve complex financial structures, such as family businesses, inherited wealth and trusts.

James has experience with Non-Court Dispute Resolution methods, including mediation, arbitration and private hearings, as well as proceedings in the Family Court.

James studied Ancient History at the University of Exeter. He completed his Graduate Diploma in Law and MSc Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.

James trained at Charles Russell Speechlys and prior to his training contract spent two years as a paralegal in the firm’s Family team.  

He is admitted to practise in England & Wales.

Experience

  • Advised on a financial remedy involving extensive insurance investments, substantial pension provision and properties across multiple jurisdictions, with assets exceeding £30 million.
  • Advised on a pre-nuptial agreement concerning inherited assets exceeding £200 million.
  • Advised a client holding a majority interest in an international hedge fund valued at over £80 million, addressing significant post-separation accrual and wealth structuring.
  • Acted in complex children law matters involving allegations of harm, domestic relocation and enforcement of child arrangements orders.
