He deals with the creation and administration of trusts, lifetime and post death tax planning and the administration of complex and frequently cross border estates. He is a member of the Business Owners team and regularly advises family businesses on the transition from one generation to the next. Gareth's clients include both UK and non-UK domiciled high net worth individuals, trustees, and beneficiaries. He is often instructed by international banks, trust companies and large charitable organisations.
Gareth is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
- Acting for the administrators of an estate with assets in the UK, Isle of Man and Thailand, involving the tracing of Thai assets and the restoration of a Manx company to the register and extensive negotiations with HMRC
- Advising the trustees of a death in service benefit scheme of their roles and responsibilities in paying lump sum death benefits, and assisting them in tracing and interviewing potential beneficiaries
- Advising a client on inheritance tax planning prior to becoming deemed domiciled in the UK including the creation of structures to hold UK real estate and investments
