Charlotte has significant experience in providing international regulatory advice on both FinTech and other financial services regulation matters.

About

Charlotte advises clients internationally on the Rules and Regulations of the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority, together with financial services legislation; and EU Directives and Regulations and their UK counterparts that affect financial services institutions, such as MiFID and EMIR. She also advises on the rules and regulations affecting payment services and e-money businesses, and those relating to crowdfunding and crypto businesses, advising on digital currencies, crypto assets, blockchain technology, and NFTs.

Charlotte’s practice is reflective of the extensive nature of financial services regulation, supporting clients from international conglomerates to specialist boutiques, as well as private clients active in private capital markets such as private equity, venture capital, debt, real estate, and technology. She also advises banks, investment managers, corporate institutions, FinTech and crypto firms, online retail marketplaces (which require regulatory advice on perimeter issues, payments, e-money and anti-money laundering, amongst other matters) investment platforms, crowdfunding platforms, payment services providers and users of payment services, e-money issuers and banks, including challenger banks and other participants in the financial markets.

Charlotte is qualified in both England & Wales and Ireland.

Experience

  • Advised a luxury fashion digital marketplace on payments issues arising from new product launches. 
  • Advised an investment manger on the MiFID inducement rules. 
  • Advised a leading cryptocurrency derivates exchange on the requirement for crypto-asset providers to be FCA registered with the FCA for AML/CTF purposes, the financial promotions regime to ensure their third-party contracts were compliant, and wider FCA authorisation and perimeter issues for crypto-asset providers.
  • Advised a crypto asset technology provider (registered with the FCA for AML purposes) on compliance with the FCA's financial promotions regime for crypto assets.
  • Advised an overseas bank on the launch of a new debit card product and new savings product relating to a particular type of deposit, including advising on customer documentation.
  • Advised a bank on a potential digital banking offering, corporate governance and senior management governance arrangements, and customer documentation.
  • Advised a US entity on the marketing of funds in the UK and the EU under the National Private Placement Regime.
