Cara advises on all issues arising from relationship breakdown. She has experience advising on high value financial cases arising from divorce and separation, including financial claims between unmarried parents (Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989), and financial claims following an overseas divorce (Part III of the Matrimonial and Family Proceedings Act 1984). She regularly works on cases involving an international dimension and complex asset bases.
Cara has significant experience drafting and advising on pre/post nuptial agreements, often in the context of succession planning and the protection of family wealth. She has worked closely with lawyers in many jurisdictions worldwide on international nuptial agreements. She also advises on cohabitation agreements.
Cara advises on all aspects of private children law, including general living arrangements, relocation, and child abduction. She has acted on various cases involving safeguarding risks, such as allegations of domestic abuse. In addition, she has experience working on international surrogacy arrangements.
Cara grew up in Hong Kong and speaks English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. She has particular expertise advising clients with connections to Hong Kong, China and the Asia Pacific. She trained at the firm and spent six months during her Training Contract on secondment to the firm’s Hong Kong office. Prior to commencing her Training Contract, she completed her Law degree at the University of Cambridge.
Cara is admitted to practise in England and Wales. She is a member of Resolution.

- Advising on complex jurisdiction disputes, including issues regarding domicile and habitual residence.

- Successfully obtaining a return order after the abduction of a child.
- Successfully obtaining orders under the Family Law Act 1996 (such as non-molestation orders).
