Charles Russell Speechlys acts for Maitland Medical Services Ltd on its acquisition of Soma Health Limited

Charles Russell Speechlys LLP has advised Maitland Medical Services Ltd, a subsidiary of Doctors Clinic Group Ltd which is backed by private equity firm Oakfield Capital, on its acquisition of Soma Health Limited.

Maitland Medical Services Ltd was formed in 1995 by a team of health professionals keen to deliver client-focused occupational health advice and support. Based in Kent, the company has continued to steadily grow and now works with a wide range of businesses both locally and throughout the UK.

Soma Health was founded in 2004 to provide tailored, comprehensive, focused and integrated occupational health business solutions for a wide variety of clients across the whole of the UK. The company has developed a reputation for operating a “partner not provider” approach, with an unwavering commitment to providing excellent customer service underpinned by the highest clinical standards.

Maitland’s acquisition of Soma Health will complement its existing occupational health offering, whilst also creating an enhanced geographical coverage for on-site corporate services.

David Mezher, CEO of Doctors Clinic Group Ltd, commented: “The team at Charles Russell Speechlys LLP have been a massive support throughout this transaction. They have been proactive and responsive and have provided thorough and commercial advice from start to finish.”

Rebecca Burford, Corporate Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys, commented: “It was a pleasure to work with David Mezher and Mark Golding, and to assist on this acquisition. I look forward to seeing DCG and Maitland Medical continuously grow in this sector and confirm their place as a leading provider of occupational health and other healthcare services.”

The Charles Russell Speechlys team was led by Corporate Partner, Rebecca Burford, and supported by Pei Li Kew and Matthew Carter (Corporate), Caroline Young, Rahim Hirji and Henry Cuthbert (Commercial), Emily Chalkley and Jack Vaughan (Employment), Esther White (Pensions), Helen Coward and Sally Scrivener (Tax), and Mark White, Will Harwood and Sarah Keens (Property).
