Charles Russell Speechlys acts for Derwent London on sale of the Johnson Building

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised Derwent London on the sale of its 192,700 sq ft freehold interest in the Johnson Building, 77 Hatton Garden and 5-7 Cross Street EC1 to Eurazeo Patrimoine, the real assets division of Eurazeo, with contracts being exchanged on 2 December 2020.

The Charles Russell Speechlys team was led by Real Estate Partner Louise Ward, and included Lynsey Inglis and Amy Shuttleworth, along with Fiona Edmond and Katherine Keenan from the firm’s Construction practice.

Louise Ward, Partner, Charles Russell Speechlys, commented:

“We are delighted to have acted for Derwent London on the sale of the Johnson Building, an asset that they have owned for many years and which they transformed in 2006. Congratulations to the team at Derwent and we wish the purchasers well with their future plans for the building.”

Derwent London acquired the office and retail complex in 2000 for £29m, and in 2006 the Group completed a significant refurbishment designed by architects AHMM which increased the lettable area by 53%.
