International Women’s Day 2020 – 8 Women for 8 March

International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates achievements and raises awareness of bias with an aim to take action for equality.

For us as a Firm, having a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture is critical to our success. Diversity in our people brings diversity of thought, ideas and innovation so that we develop as individuals and collectively as a Firm. That in turn means that we can better understand our clients and provide them with the best solutions.

This year’s IWD theme is #EachForEqual, which focusses on what we think and do as individuals to, collectively help work towards creating a more gender equal world. Managing Partner Simon Ridpath, encouraged everyone at the Firm to pledge a tangible action to support gender equality which they will aim to complete in the next year. The pledges were displayed on the pledge walls in each of our offices as a visual sign of commitment to a gender equal world.

For our video campaign, we asked 8 women for 8 March 2020, to share what International Women’s Day means to them, and their pledge for the year ahead to help achieve gender equality:

Panel event and forthcoming events:

As International Women’s Day is an opportunity to shine a light on the achievements of women, we held an International Women’s Panel event; where five female Partners and Associates showcased their careers to date and involvement in international work with a view to inspiring our junior lawyers on how to approach this in the early stages of their career.

In addition, next month we will be launching our internal podcast series, featuring a variety of interviews, including role models sharing their personal experiences and topic focussed panel discussions.
