Charles Russell Speechlys advises Jensen Hughes on the acquisition of leading forensic investigations firm IFIC
Charles Russell Speechlys has advised Jensen Hughes, the global leader in safety, security and risk-based engineering and consulting, on the acquisition of International Fire Investigators and Consultants (IFIC), a market leader in forensic investigations in the UK and Ireland markets, with special expertise in the marine industry.
IFIC was founded in 1970 and is owned and managed by Professor James Lygate, a leading fire forensics investigator. Services include forensic investigations of fire and explosion, water escape and chemical spills, as well as failure analysis and expert witness services.
This strategic acquisition expands Jensen Hughes’ global market leadership by strengthening its ability to provide an immediate fire investigation response for any organization in the UK or Ireland and broadens the firm’s forensic capabilities worldwide.
IFIC is the most recent strategic acquisition by Jensen Hughes, a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, that reflects the company’s long-term commitment to deliver its integrated, end-to-end services worldwide wherever its global clients require support. The acquisition enhances Jensen Hughes’ robust, global fire forensics capabilities and its ability to provide an immediate response to fire-related crises confronting any organization in the UK, Ireland and Europe. It also strengthens Jensen Hughes’ ability to help clients in the marine market understand their fire-related risks and implement global best practices to manage these in a prevention-oriented and cost-effective manner.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Raj Arora, CEO at Jensen Hughes, commented: “It was a pleasure to work with the Charles Russell Speechlys team on our December 2019 acquisition of IFIC Forensics. Daniel, Mo and their colleagues at Charles Russell Speechlys skilfully helped us through several complex legal issues and worked diligently on this strategic addition to the Jensen Hughes family”.
Daniel Rosenberg, Corporate Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys, said: “Following our work with Jensen Hughes on their highly successful acquisition of Jeremy Gardner Associates last year we were delighted to be working again with this market-leading client on what is another key European transaction for them”.
The Charles Russell Speechlys team was led by Daniel Rosenberg and Mo Wang and included Edidem Basiekanem and Millie Parrott (Corporate), Lynsey Inglis (Real Estate), Jaclyn Wilkins (Commercial), Duncan Salmon (Construction), Rob Birchall (Tax) and Anisha Vyas (Employment).
