G3 Futures Gains Momentum with Fourth Annual Gaming Event in Guildford
G3 Futures - an annual event for games developers and industry specialists in Guildford and the South East - is taking place at the University of Surrey’s 5G Innovation Centre on Wednesday 4 July from 5.00pm to 7.30pm. The main focus of this year’s event is the future of the games industry, with key note speakers and panellists discussing a range of topics including new technologies, new funding opportunities, diversity and talent.
Free to attend, G3 Futures – organised for the fourth consecutive year by Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing at the University of Surrey, Ukie (UK Interactive Entertainment trade body) and technology law specialist Charles Russell Speechlys – also provides opportunities for local games companies to get involved through speaker and exhibiting opportunities. Drinks and a barbecue will follow on from speaker and panel sessions, providing great networking opportunities for all attendees.
Nick Hurley, Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys and Co-Host of the G3 Futures event comments, “We set up G3 Futures in 2015 to provide a central hub for local gaming companies and a unifying programme to help to maintain Guildford’s reputation as ‘the Hollywood of the games industry.’ Every year our G3 Futures event gets even stronger, providing local gaming and technology companies with opportunities to share successes and gain useful contacts and insight to help their businesses to thrive.”
Prof. Adrian Hilton, Director of CVSSP at the University of Surrey adds, “G3 Futures is all about expanding the games footprint in Guildford and collaborating to provide a stronger community for the future. The event provides an ideal platform to educate local games organisations about the latest innovations in the industry. This year our technology focus will be on immersive content and audio and we will be showcasing a range of new technologies which truly epitomise the future of gaming.”
Dr Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie, says ‘Guildford and the surrounding areas are one of the biggest and most established hubs of games activity in the UK. To maintain this status and produce great games with global appeal, it is important to attract and retain a more diverse workforce – and this is an issue that will be discussed in detail at the G3 Futures event. Another key topic for discussion is future business models. At the event, we will discuss ways that studios can be funded, from cryptocurrencies to attracting foreign investment. There’s a huge amount of excitement and talent in Guildford and we have created an event covering a wide range of key topics to help local gaming and technology companies to maximise growth opportunities.”
The G3 Futures key note speaker and panellists will be announced in the next few weeks. For further information about speaker or exhibitor opportunities or to register to attend, please visit www.guildford-games.com or contact email@example.com.
