Charles Russell Speechlys advises Mobeus Equity Partners on its investment in Tapas Revolution

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised Mobeus Equity Partners on its investment in Tapas Revolution, the UK restaurant chain offering Spanish tapas cuisine that was founded by celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy.

Tapas Revolution, which first opened in 2010 now has five sites, in Westfield, Shoreditch, Bluewater, Birmingham and Sheffield. Its Spanish tapas offering has proven popular and it has now sought Mobeus’ funding to expand its offering to Newcastle and Bath, which will open in spring 2017.

Mobeus is backing an experienced team of restaurateurs in the venture. Mac Plumpton, Managing Director, has previously held senior roles at Planet Hollywood Europe and Belgo, and Omar Allibhoy, Culinary Director, who trained with famous chefs Ferran Adria (of El Bulli) and Gordon Ramsay. Co-investors Douglas Smillie and Ken Sanker, have experience across the dining sector, ranging from Henry J Beans Group Ltd to Goodmans and Galvin.

Amit Hindocha of Mobeus, who will join the board of Tapas Revolution, commented “Adam, Richard and the wider team at Charles Russell Speechlys did an excellent job on our investment into Tapas Revolution. Their input was invaluable and helped us to complete the transaction efficiently and to a tight deadline.”

The Charles Russell Speechlys team was led by Private Equity Partner Adam Crossley and Senior Associate Richard Coleman and included Corporate Associate Sophie Langley-Evans.
