CSR Trainee Induction Day 2016

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team recently welcomed the new trainee solicitors with a CSR focussed day in and around London. The trainees spent their day solving; "who am I, what am I, where am I," questions, engaging with the public and at the same time raising vital awareness for our Charity of the Year 2016, Dementia UK.

Involving ourselves with the local community is something that we value highly, so this activity was the perfect way to introduce our trainees to our values.

Jack Calvert, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Dementia UK introduced the charity and its work to the trainees and they then set off on their quest to solve the problems.

Whilst the day was a fun challenge it enhanced our new trainee solicitor's skills – which included team work, communication and problem solving skills.

The trainees enterprising answers along with photographic evidence were sent to us using the @CRSTrainees Twitter feed and were judged by Martin Bishop, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Dementia UK and Sangna Chauhan, Hayley Halvatzis and Dawn Dove from Charles Russell Speechlys. After some serious judging, the teams were presented with prizes.

The second part of the Trainee Solicitor Challenge is now underway and they are aiming to raise £1000 collectively for Dementia UK by 31 December 2016. We look forward to hearing about their upcoming events.

One of the trainees, Owen Chan commented:

"It was a fun-filled day with plenty of opportunities to bond with my fellow trainees and members of the public. What I find most satisfying, however, is knowing that what we did on Friday will help bring a positive impact to other people's lives. It feels great to know that Charles Russell Speechlys places great emphasis on giving back to the community."
