Charles Russell Speechlys present at EIS Association Autumn Technical Seminar 2020
We were delighted to present at the recent virtual EIS Association Autumn Technical Seminar, chaired by The Lord Flight. Guest speakers included, among others, Robert Birchall and Hamish Perry from Charles Russell Speechlys’ corporate tax and corporate teams (respectively), who gave a short talk on planning for an exit.
The conference covered a range of topics including supporting business growth, a tax and technical committee update, a regulatory update and an overview on ways to address the regional funding gap. Rob and Hamish spoke on the tax and corporate considerations for companies preparing for a possible exit – you can watch their presentation video below.
The SEIS and EIS schemes are aimed at assisting qualifying SMEs to raise equity capital, due to the many tax reliefs investors potentially benefit from including capital gains tax deferral, income tax relief, capital gains tax relief, inheritance tax relief and capital loss relief.
Our corporate and corporate tax team together were finalists for the Best EIS/SEIS Legal/Regulatory Adviser Award at the 2020 EISA Awards. We have specialists in both teams advising on and supporting SMEs and investors in relation to SEIS and EIS investments.
