CMA refers Tobii’s purchase of Smartbox for an in-depth phase 2 investigation
The CMA has referred Tobii’s purchase of Smartbox for an in-depth phase 2 investigation after finding concerns in relation to the supply of augmentative and assistive communication solutions. Although the parties offered undertakings in lieu, the CMA did not consider that these met its concerns. Click here.
Competition Appeal Tribunal dismisses Electro Rent appeal against CMA gun jumping fine
The Competition Appeal Tribunal has dismissed Electro Rent’s appeal against a CMA penalty of £100,000 for failure to comply with an interim hold separate order. The Tribunal dismissed Electro Rent’s arguments that the CMA erred in finding that Electro Rent did not have a reasonable excuse for the breach and that the penalty imposed by the CMA was excessive. - The European Commission has approved the merger between Amcor and Bemis. Both companies manufacture flexible packaging products worldwide. The approval is conditional on the divestment of Bemis' medical packaging business in Europe. Click here.
