Surveyors' Webinar - 13:00-14:00, 18 June 2020
This workshop will focus on some of the key legal changes which have been implemented as a result of the pandemic, how these changes will impact on landlords and tenants as we approach the next rent payment date and ease out of lockdown and will focus on the practical issues which landlords, tenants, investors and surveyors need to address in light of these changes.
We will be exploring:
- How the extension or expiry of the moratorium on forfeiture (currently due to expire on 30 June 2020) will affect tenants who have refused to pay rent and the options available to landlords to recover unpaid lease rents;
- The effect the new Corporate Insolvency and Governance Bill will have on the landlord’s ability to serve a statutory demand or issue a winding up petition to recover unpaid rents and whether it will limit the landlord’s right to forfeit a lease in an insolvency situation;
- The rent concessions and trends which are likely as we begin to ease out of lockdown and what strategies will commercial tenants be using to mitigate their property liabilities caused by revised working practices introduced by the lockdown and to safeguard against a potential second wave of the virus.
As always, the workshop session will be interactive so there will be opportunities for you to share your views and experiences with us, and also to ask questions of our expert panel.
We aim to finish the webinar at approximately 14:00.
