min readCharles Russell Speechlys is pleased to announce its financial results for FY25/26, posting firmwide revenue growth of 10%. Revenue growth is comprised of 8% in the UK and 17% internationally.
Revenue for the year was £266.5m, marking a 10% increase on last year (£242.3m). Firmwide net profit amounted to £47.8m, compared with £47.5m in the previous year. Average profit per UK equity partner (PEP) rose to £695k, compared with £687k in the previous year.
Between 30 April 2025 – 30 April 2026, the Firm continued to invest in its growth by welcoming a total of 21 Partner lateral hires across the Firm’s Europe, Middle East, and Asia offices. For a full list of these appointments, please see the bottom of this press release.
The announcement of our latest financial results follows the recent news of our expansion into North America, with the opening of two new offices in New York and Connecticut reflecting our ongoing investment in expanding our presence in the world’s key private capital hubs.
Simon Ridpath, Charles Russell Speechlys’ Global Managing Partner, says:
Everyone across the Firm should be proud and pleased with this year’s results. We have worked hard at developing our private capital strategy and can say with confidence that it is resonating with our clients, contacts and the market and delivering results across the Firm. It is fantastic to see revenues up across every single one of our divisions and strong growth both in the UK and internationally, and I would like to say a huge thank you to our people for their continued hard work and high performance, and our clients for trusting us with their most significant transactions, personal matters and complex disputes.
We have seen strong and sustained growth in key markets, including Asia, Italy and Europe more broadly. We also recently opened offices in New York City and Connecticut in July 2026, establishing a permanent US presence for our private capital practice for the very first time. Looking ahead, I can say with confidence that the international opportunity for us is huge. We are committed to growing and develop in the world’s private capital centres, and doing so will enable us to better serve the rapidly growing number of globally mobile families, entrepreneurs and private capital owners who are active in these regions.
Tom Smith, Chief Financial Officer at Charles Russell Speechlys, says:
It has been a markedly positive year for the Firm. Revenue growth in our international offices has been impressive and sustained, with 17% this year and 18% last year. Our positive performance in the UK should also be noted, where we achieved revenue growth of 8% against a rather ordinary economy and low levels of economic growth overall.
We have continued to make significant investments into the Firm, including a build-out of our business support functions, particularly relating to innovation, AI, strategy, project delivery and transformation. The year has also been marked by investments that support our international growth such as opening in New York and Connecticut and growing our presences in Milan and Asia. We also continued to make a number of senior-level lateral hires to fill in any gaps in our offering to clients. All of this comes at a short-term financial cost but undoubtedly puts us in a strong position to achieve even higher levels of growth in the years ahead.
Looking at the overall picture, recent developments and the budget we have set for FY26-27, we remain well positioned to achieve and possibly even exceed our revenue target of £350m by 2028.
Major announcements FY25/26 include:
- Partner Promotions which saw us invest in internal talent by promoting nine individuals to Partner, in addition to six Legal Director and 18 Senior Associate promotions.
- Continued growth in the Firm’s Milan office: Corporate, Fintech, IP and Art Law expert Annapaola Negri-Clementi joined with a team in October 2025; real estate expert Chiara del Frate joined in London in January 2026 (practising one week per month in Milan); and Giovanni Angelini and Gabriele Colombaioni were promoted to the partnership in April 2026.
- Further consolidation of our global network, including ten international Partner lateral appointments, laying the groundwork for our recently announced new office openings in New York and Connecticut.
- The appointment of Thibault Caharel as the new Head of our Paris office, succeeding Frédéric Jeannin in the role, who led the Paris office since 2013.
- Firmwide adoption of generative AI platform Harvey and rollout of Copilot across the Firm, including for business services staff.

About Charles Russell Speechlys
Charles Russell Speechlys is an international law firm with a focus on private capital, at the intersection of personal, family and business. Its lawyers are based in 16 locations across the UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the US, and through each of these locations, clients can access the full range of the Firm’s skills and expertise. Charles Russell Speechlys is a leader in the world of dynamic growth and business, and among the world’s prominent creators and owners of private capital and their families.
What do we mean by ‘Private Capital’?
For Charles Russell Speechlys, private capital means the complex, cross-border legal needs of families and individuals: their wealth structures, their estate planning, their business interests, their tax obligations across jurisdictions, and the full arc of their financial lives. It does not mean proximity to private equity firms or institutional capital, which is how some firms use the term. Our clients are less often the funds; they are more often the people behind the funds, alongside entrepreneurs, family offices, and globally mobile individuals whose personal and professional lives don't fit neatly into one jurisdiction.
