Nicola Saccardo elected as President-Elect of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law

min read

Nicola Saccardo, Private Client Partner and Head of the Firm’s Italian practice, has been elected as President-Elect of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law (IAETL). He will serve as President-Elect for two years and will then automatically become President for two years.

IAETL is a highly selective group of recognised experts in trusts, estate planning, succession and related areas of law from across 41 jurisdictions. Individuals elected to this invitation-only Academy must have practised law in the Academy’s areas of interest for at least ten years and have distinguished themselves in the practice and development of the law in their country.  Four Charles Russell Speechlys Private Client Partners (Bart Peerless, Kevin Lee, Nicola Saccardo and Piers Master) are IAETL members.

As the head of the Firm's Italian practice, Nicola specialises in Italian tax and estate planning in cross-border situations. A significant part of his practice is related to advice to UHNWIs considering relocation to Italy. His expertise also extends to taxation of trusts, international and EU tax law and to estate planning.

Nicola is also an International Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and has previously chaired the International Client Global SIG Steering Committee of STEP, now contributing as a member to the Cross-Border Estates Global SIG Steering Committee of STEP.

Piers Master, Partner and Co-Divisional Managing Partner of the Firm’s Private Client Division, comments:

“It was a privilege to attend this year’s Annual Meeting of The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law in Vancouver and to witness Nicola’s election as President-Elect. This is a fantastic achievement, not only for Nicola but for the Firm as a whole.

“Nicola is a leading authority on Italian and international private wealth matters, and his expertise in cross-border estate planning and tax is widely recognised. I have no doubt he will bring that depth of knowledge and global perspective to the role and make a significant contribution to the Academy over the coming years.”

On this election, Nicola Saccardo, comments:

“I am delighted to have been elected President-Elect of The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law. It is a great honour to be part of such a distinguished and collaborative international community, and I am very proud to be the first Italian to be elected to this role.

“I look forward to working closely with fellow members to share insights, exchange ideas and contribute to the continued development of trust and estate law across jurisdictions.”
