Charles Russell Speechlys moves offices in Milan following consistent growth of Italian practice

min read

Following a consistent expansion of its Italian practice, Charles Russell Speechlys today announces it has moved to bigger office premises in Milan.

The Firm now occupies two floors at Via Borgona 8, a historic trophy asset and free-standing building in Milan’s city centre. The Firm now has 17 lawyers and 5 support employees across the Italian practice, with ample headroom for future growth.

Dating back to the 1930s, the building was completely renovated in 2011, ensuring modern standards and contemporary comfort. The building also features a flexible design and spacious environments, making the spaces ideal for customisations and adaptations to the Firm’s needs. Two floors also boast exclusive terraces, providing an outdoor space ideal for breaks and informal meetings. One of the building’s most distinctive features is its 360-degree panoramic view over the city.

Michael Lingens, the Firm’s regional lead for continental Europe, said:

The Milan relocation underlines our long‑term commitment to the Italian market, ensuring the Firm is well positioned to support clients’ needs as private capital activity continues to evolve in Italy. This move equips the Firm with the infrastructure and environment needed to deepen our private capital offering, particularly for entrepreneurs, families, family offices and international clients with Italian interests. In addition, the new space supports talent attraction and retention, giving the Italian team a high‑quality working environment that reflects the scale and ambition of the practice today and in the future.

Nicola Saccardo, Partner and Head of the Firm’s Italian practice, added:

The relocation of our Milan office to Via Borgogna 8 marks the next phase in the growth of our Italian practice, reflecting sustained investment in the market and confidence in the long‑term opportunity ahead. This move is about strengthening the Italian practice as a Firmwide capability, not simply expanding a single office. Our Italian practice operates across Milan, London and other offices, and the new space supports the team wherever they are based.

Since opening the Milan office in November 2024, the Firm’s Italian practice has expanded significantly in scale and in capability via a series of strategic hires that have broadened its Italy service offering, reflecting strong client demand and the Firm’s long‑term commitment to the market.

Recent hires for the Italian practice include Paolo Rampulla, its first Corporate Tax Partner in Italy; Raffaella Piraccini, Counsel, who specialises in corporate tax advisory and is part of Paolo’s team; Massimiliano Lovotti, who joins as counsel and specialises in tax litigation with more than 25 years’ experience; Chiara del Frate who joined in London in January and practises one week per month in Milan; Annapaola Negri-Clementi and her team in Milan in October 2025; as well as promotions to the partnership of Giovanni Angelini in Milan and Gabriele Colombaioni in London in May.
