Charles Russell Speechlys advises AgDevCo on its investment from BII, Norfund and Swedfund

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised long-standing client AgDevCo, a specialist impact investor in African agribusinesses, on its $85 million investment from British International Investment (BII), Norfund and Swedfund.

This deal will support the expansion of AgDevCo’s portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises across countries in sub-Saharan Africa, which includes producing nutritious foods for local consumption and high-value export crops. AgDevCo invests across the agricultural value chain, from primary production to logistics, ensuring sustainable practices and improved resilience.

Melissa Manzo, General Counsel, AgDevCo, commented:

It was a pleasure working with the Charles Russell Speechlys team again. The hard work, expert guidance and advice from Adrian, Matthew and Noah has been invaluable. This investment will strengthen AgDevCo’s position as a leading specialist investor, enabling us to grow our portfolio and drive positive impact at scale.

Adrian Mayer, Corporate Partner, commented:

We were delighted to support the AgDevCo team again, particularly on securing such exciting and positive investments into the African agricultural sector. We look forward to seeing how these investments will allow AgDevCo to develop and positively impact Africa’s agricultural sector.

The team was led by Adrian Mayer (Corporate), Matthew Hobbs (Senior Associate, Corporate) and Noah Ofulue (Associate, Corporate).
