Charles Russell Speechlys advises Battery Ventures on its strategic investment round in Signal AI

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised long standing client Battery Ventures on its $165 million investment round into Signal AI, an intelligence platform that analyses billions of data points across news, regulations, litigation, social media and other sources to highlight emerging risks and reputational threats.

Founded in 1983, Battery Ventures has raised 14 families of funds valued at more than $13 billion, investing in software and services, enterprise infrastructure, online marketplaces, healthcare IT, and industrial technology around the world. The firm backs companies at all stages, ranging from seed and early to growth and buyout, and was recently named in Inc.’s Founder-Friendly Investors 2025 list, reflective of their commitment to supporting entrepreneurial growth. Charles Russell Speechlys has proudly worked with Battery for several years, advising on many of their key investments and divestments, including the sale of Forterro to Partners Group  and of SPT Labtech to EQT.

The investment from Battery Ventures will allow Signal AI to conduct strategic M&A that will deepen data collection, sector expertise and AI research. The company plans to accelerate its risk intelligence product development, as well as expand its footprint across both the U.S. and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Collier Searle, Battery Ventures, commented:

“It was a delight to work with Jon and the team again. In particular, we appreciate their understanding of how we work, sector expertise and ability to navigate complex situations.”

Jonathan Morley, Corporate Partner, commented:

“It was a pleasure collaborating with Battery Ventures on this significant investment and we look forward to seeing the innovative changes this partnership with Battery will bring. AI is a huge area of growth internationally at the moment and we are proud to showcase our tech sector expertise in this fast-developing market.”

The team was led by Corporate Partner Jonathan Morley with Corporate Partner Ashwin Pillay, Commercial Partner Caroline Young and Corporate Senior Associates Matthew Hobbs and Jeff Carvell.
