Caroline Greenwell recognised in GIR’s ‘Women in Investigations 2025’ list
Charles Russell Speechlys is pleased to announce that Caroline Greenwell, Dispute Resolution Partner in the Commercial Disputes and Fraud team, has been featured in this year’s ‘GIR Women in Investigations 2025’.
The list, compiled by Global Investigations Review (GIR), highlights 100 exceptional women in the world of white-collar crime, from future leaders to long-established stars. In the words of the publisher, it “highlights remarkable women in the profession. The lawyers, barristers, in-house counsel, investigators and academics from a variety of countries and backgrounds, represented at every age and level, from associates to partners. What is true of all of them is that they are achieving great things in a complex and competitive area of law.”
Caroline has over 15 years’ experience advising on complex, high profile and multijurisdictional disputes and financial crime investigations. These disputes typically involve breaches of contract and misrepresentations, tortious or wrongful acts, civil fraud and asset tracing, and allegations of bribery and corruption; and regularly involve the need for injunctive relief which she has great experience in obtaining.
Caroline defended corporate clients in the $9 billion AHAB / SAAD case in which she was granted limited admission to the Cayman bar, and she successfully defended a former employee of a multi-national oil company from high-profile allegations of bribery and corruption in Nigeria before the Milan Court of Appeal. A highlight of her career so far is the acquittal by jury of John Mason in the case of Serious Fraud Office v GPT, Cook and Mason on a corruption charge relating to alleged multi-million pound bribes paid to high-ranking Saudi officials, supposedly to secure and maintain defence business. The case was one of the longest running SFO investigations in history.
