Charles Russell Speechlys advises the shareholders of Stow Healthcare Group Limited on the sale of the company to CGEN Care Group

We acted for the selling shareholders, on what represents CGEN Care Group’s first acquisition in the UK. This deal highlights the significant interest from international investors and operators in building a presence in the UK's social care industry

Stow Healthcare is a family of care homes owned and managed by brother and sister Roger Catchpole and Ruth French. Fittingly, a focus on ‘family’ drives the way they run their residential homes, nursing homes and memory centres which are dedicated to dementia care. Established 15 years ago with Stowlangtoft Hall in Suffolk, the portfolio comprises eight elderly care homes and 408 beds located across East Anglia & Essex. Since their inception, the business has developed into a multi-award winning group that is now renowned for their operational excellence evidenced by four out of their eight homes being rated outstanding by CQC.

Ruth French and Roger Catchpole, Stow Healthcare Group, commented:

We are very grateful to have had the support of David, Mark, and the wider team on this important deal, that sits so close to our hearts. Their care and dedication throughout were invaluable to us.

David Coates, Corporate Partner, commented:

It was an honour to work with Roger and Ruth on this transaction. We pride ourselves as a firm on putting people first and are always pleased to be trusted on such seminal moments.

The team was led by Corporate Partner David Coates. The wider team included Nathan Lightman, Lydia Lasseter and Charlotte Yam (Corporate), Mark White and Will Harwood (Real Estate), James Stewart and Arjun Thakrar (Corporate Tax and Incentives), Caroline Young and Charles Mallows (Commercial).
