Charles Russell Speechlys bolsters international private client capabilities with Partner hire in London

Charles Russell Speechlys today announces the arrival of Private Client Partner, Jonathan Burt, to the Firm’s UK Private Client team. Jonathan joins from Harbottle & Lewis and his appointment adds strength and depth to the International Private Client team on the ground in London.

Jonathan is an established senior practitioner with over 30 years’ experience advising entrepreneurs, business and wealth owners on international private client matters. He provides specialist advice for trustees, beneficiaries and families with international interests and his strong stable of clients praise him for his ability to navigate complex cross-border tax and succession planning issues. Many of his clients typically have a connection with the UK through tax residency, citizenship or domicile, or invest in UK businesses or real estate. They invariably have interests in foundations, trusts or companies, often outside the UK, which hold businesses or investments internationally.

He has particular expertise advising UK resident non-domiciled clients, international families based in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and US citizens who live outside America on cross-border estate planning, multi-jurisdictional investment structures and the related global tax and immigration issues, thereby strengthening the Firm’s offering across key target geographies.

Robert Blower, Divisional Managing Partner of the Private Client division says:

Jonathan is a distinguished Private Client practitioner, highly regarded for his expertise advising UK resident non-domiciled individuals. He joins us at a particularly opportune time, following the UK budget and ahead of related tax changes, and his arrival will enhance our global reach and open up exciting new opportunities.

Jonathan Burt, Private Client Partner, adds:

Given Charles Russell Speechlys' strong brand, strategic focus on Private Capital, and expansive international footprint, this move is perfectly aligned with my own professional focuses. I am excited to be joining a Firm that not only reflects my long-term goals but also offers the ideal platform for achieving them.
