Paul Arathoon comments in The Banker, Finextra and others about Revolut’s mooted dual listing in the UK and US

min read

Revolut’s consideration of a dual listing in London and New York has provided a potentially significant vote of confidence in the London Stock Exchange, despite the fintech’s stated preference for the deeper liquidity and broader investor base available in the US.

The possibility represents a change from earlier criticism of London’s competitiveness, including concerns about stamp duty on share trading and the process of obtaining a UK banking licence. A London component could help demonstrate that the market remains capable of attracting large, high-growth financial technology businesses.

Although dual listings remain comparatively unusual and may not be suitable for smaller companies, the choice of London as a potential venue could encourage other technology-focused financial services businesses to consider the UK alongside the US.

Paul Arathoon, Partner in our Corporate team, comments in The Banker, Finextra and others:

The fact that Revolut is considering London as a dual list venue speaks to the strength and liquidity of the London Stock Exchange. This could ultimately kick start a new trend for high growth tech-focussed businesses who might previously have looked only to the US for their listing.
