The Financial Times reports that the conflict in the Middle East is being used by some divorced or separated parents as a reason to delay or prevent agreed child access arrangements between the UK and the UAE.
Lawyers say safety concerns around travel are sometimes being raised opportunistically, triggering renewed disputes over custody, with the potential for complications to arise because the UAE is not a signatory to the 1980 Hague Convention on International Child Abduction, making cross-border enforcement difficult.
