Investment Week quotes Greg Stonefield on whether 2026 will be the year of London IPOs
Investment Week presents the Big Question:
Will 2026 be the year of London IPOs?
Greg Stonefield, Partner in our Corporate team, responds:
London’s IPO market is edging into a more confident phase, and 2026 could be the first year in a long while where momentum genuinely turns. The new prospectus regime, combined with the already-implemented listing rule reforms, finally gives issuers something they’ve lacked for years: a framework that is internationally recognisable, commercially usable, and not weighed down by legacy caution. Global investors haven’t written London off; they’ve just been waiting for reasons to re-engage, and the reforms are creating that opening. Execution risk remains real (investors cant ignore global events) but the direction of policy (in so far as it relates to making the LSE more competitive) is unmistakably pro-growth. If regulators stay consistent and the pipeline continues to mature, we should see more companies choosing London because it now competes on its merits. The opportunity is there for the market to reclaim relevance in sectors where it should never have lost ground in the first place.
