Financial News quotes Nicola Saccardo and Annapaola Negri-Clementi on our Italian practice and the relocation of wealthy individuals to Italy

min read

Financial News reports that law firms are "racing" to tap into a booming Italian market driven by a private equity and M&A rebound. The piece goes on to note that Firms are picking up a range of interesting pieces of work, that includes advising on the art collections and succession plans of high-net-worth individuals in the country amid an influx of new wealth.

Charles Russell Speechlys is mentioned as one of the firms that have launched a new office in the region or expanded the team on the ground in 2025.

Speaking to Financial News in a joint interview, Nicola Saccardo, Partner and Head of our Italian practice, and Annapaola Negri-Clementi, Partner in our Corporate team, comment on the trends they are seeing in the region and our Firm's strategy in Italy.

Nicola comments: "[Our Italian expansion] was an opportunity given by the fact that wealthy people are relocating to Italy from abroad. At the same time, we want to assist Italian families with their private capital needs on an international basis, so it’s two-fold."

Annapaola adds that art law is “a very particular kind of practice” and a growing part of the Firm’s wealth management offering. She explains that we expect demand for art advice to rise after the Italian government reduced VAT on sales and imports of artworks from 22% to 5% in July 2025.
