Joanne Searle and Ciara McEwen write for The Carer on what the Labour government is doing for the future of social care

Many in the care industry have been waiting with bated breath to see if they were going to get much needed lifelines from the new Labour government.

Joanne Searle, Associate in our Real Estate team, co-authors an article for The Carer with Ciara McEwen, Head of Marketing at Care Hires looking at Labour's approach to the care sector and what the future might bring.

In the piece, Joanne and Ciara argue that one 'glimmer of hope' is Labour's focus on planning reform which might make development of new care sites easier. They also cover:

  • Why care has to be a priority for Labour
  • The cost of people / staffing
  • The importance of getting more care homes built
  • The need for investment capital in the care sector
