Eddie Richards and Sadie Pitman write for CoStar on Labour's approach to logistics and infrastructure

Labour came to power with a promise to stimulate growth through its “Plan for Change”, however facing difficult economic conditions and following a budget that imposed record tax hikes, growth in the UK has been glacial.

Eddie Richards, Partner, and Sadie Pitman, Associate, both in our Real Estate team, unpick this issue and Labour's approach to infrastructure and logistics more generally in an opinion piece for CoStar.

In the article, they argue that the chancellor needs to turn things around quickly to avoid further tax hikes and she is "therefore looking to the construction and infrastructure sectors to kick start the growth the country so desperately needs". They continue:

Indeed, the government is making strides to promote large scale infrastructure projects – such as the expansion of Heathrow Airport and increased transport links between Oxford and Cambridge. Although not new ideas the renewed focus on the projects is welcome and this government has a better chance of implementing them than those before, being far less beholden to the voters who oppose homes and infrastructure in these areas.
