Law.com International interviews Robert Reymond on the growth of our Latin America desk

Latin America is "becoming an increasingly profitable geography" for our Firm and an important jurisdiction given our Firm's focus on private capital.

In an article on the topic, Law.com International explains that "the shift to the political left in much of the region has sent scores of wealthy individuals searching for safe harbor, both for their assets and themselves".

The publication interviews Robert Reymond, Partner and head of our Latin America desk, as part of the piece. Robert walks readers through the currently situation in the region, as well as the direction and growth of our Latin America desk. He explains: “Wealth is skewed to a smallish percentage of the population, and that population is nervous".

The piece explains that Robert joined our Firm in 2021, bringing with him extensive contacts and experience in Latin America. Robert advises financial institutions and high-net-worth families on international wealth structuring, with a focus on tax, estate planning and the international regulatory environment. He also advises on political risk mitigation strategies for international and in-country assets.

The piece also notes our recent hires of David Cordova Flores, a Mexican tax lawyer based in Luxembourg, and Rafael Boccatto, a Brazilian lawyer based in London who focuses on private client matters.

We now have 12 lawyers with a strong nexus to Latin America, with a view to recruiting more. Robert explains that the desk is "very busy".

We will want to hire more people with a Latin America focus,” he says.
