Claudine Morgan and Hannah Gornall write for Accountancy Age on the draft Audit Reform and Corporate Governance Bill

Amongst the 40 laws the government announced in the King’s Speech on 17th July 2024, a draft Audit Reform and Corporate Governance Bill (the Bill) was proposed. It is being hailed as ‘landmark legislation’ that will reshape the landscape for accountants, auditors and directors across the UK. 

Claudine Morgan, Legal Director, and Hannah Gornall, Associate, note that as it progresses, the bill promises significant changes for auditors, companies, and investors alike.

Key provisions include stricter regulations for auditors, improved transparency in financial reporting, and stronger enforcement mechanisms.
