David Savage writes for Construction News on the upcoming building-control overhaul

1 October 2023 is a big day for the construction sector, with the date marking the new building-control regime for higher-risk buildings (HRBs) and the deadline for submitting the application to register any qualifying HRBs that are used for any residential purposes, including as part of a mixed-use scheme.

With this date on the horizon, David Savage, Partner, writes an article for Construction News.

In the piece, he gives advice to those in the industry around how best to prepare for the incoming changes. He also addresses the fact that there are a number of significant challenges ahead:

The sheer volume of information for the industry to assimilate is going to be a major challenge. To assist, the BSR has published a short guidance note on the building-control regime but there is little doubt in my mind that the industry will be playing catch-up for some time.
