Should nursery fees still be paid if the nursery is ordered to shut?

min read

There are 20,000 independent nurseries in the UK and there seems to be two schools of thought - one that parents do not need to pay if the nursery is shut down and the second that parents are requested to still pay for the space (even if the nursery is still closed).

In the below article in the Telegraph, I give my thoughts and apply the law to this nursery fee situation. I also set out areas in which the Government is helping nurseries during these unprecedented times.

I assist nursery operators who are selling and buying a nursery. With the sudden hardships that nurseries face, it is not surprising that that more and more enquiries have been to sell. For buyers the good news is that banks are still lending. I’d be happy to assist and guide you in the right direction.
