Up in the AI: GenAI and Changing Business Models

Welcome to Up in the AI, our podcast hosted by Joe Cohen, Director of Advanced Client Solutions. In this series, Joe speaks with thought leaders from across the legal and technology industries, as well as the education and regulatory sectors about how Artificial Intelligence has already and will continue to impact lawyers’ ways of working and the delivery of legal services to our clients.

In this episode, Joe is joined by four successful legal technology start-up founders:

  • Travis Leon, Co-Founder/Co-CEO at Jigsaw. Travis practised at a Magic Circle firm before moving into investment banking. He co-founded XRef and helped build the wider Litera conglomerate, before co-founding Jigsaw which revolutionises corporate structure diagramming.
  • Victoria C Albrecht, Founder & CEO at Springbok AI. Victoria worked for a Silicon Valley-backed conversational AI start-up before founding boutique consultancy Springbok AI in 2017. Its award-winning offering includes legal-specific toolkit SpringLaw Suite.
  • Nnamdi Emelifeonwu, CEO & Co-Founder at Definely. A former Magic Circle lawyer, Nnamdi co-founded Definely to make legal documents more accessible throughout the drafting and checking process. Definely is now used by law firms and in-house legal teams around the world.
  • David Howorth, Director & Co-Founder at Avvoka. After practicing at a Magic Circle firm, David co-founded Avvoka in 2016 with the aim of shaking up the legal market with contract automation solutions. Avvoka is now an award-winning no-code automation tool.

These successful innovators share with Joe their struggles and triumphs in navigating the legal tech start-up landscape both pre and post Gen AI, give valuable insights on seizing opportunities and avoiding pitfalls, and speak openly about key lessons they have learned.
