Gender pay gap reporting requirement suspended

The GEO and EHRC have confirmed in a joint statement today that the deadlines for employers to report on their gender pay gaps are being suspended. The EHRC is not intending to take enforcement action which effectively means that there is no requirement to report by 4 April. This is in recognition of the unprecedented situation in which employers are finding themselves in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. 

This is the third year of gender pay gap reporting and according to the GEO only 26% (3,000) of employers have reported so far.  The GEO has stated that it will continue to provide support to employers in reporting their data should they wish to do so.  

While employers have other pressing issues to consider, in the longer term, it would still be advisable to report when business is back to normal or when reasonably practicable.
