CMA issues adverse provisional findings in Crowdcube/Seedrs merger inquiry and parties decide to abandon merger

The CMA has issued its provisional findings as part of its phase 2 investigation into the Crowdcube/Seedrs merger.  The CMA provisionally found that the merger may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition in relation to the supply of equity crowdfunding platforms to SMEs and investors in the UK.  Following the issue of the provisional findings, the parties have decided to abandon the merger.  Click here.

CMA proposes to refer Facebook’s acquisition of Giphy  

The CMA is proposing to refer Facebook’s acquisition of Giphy for a detailed phase 2 merger investigation unless the parties offer suitable undertakings in lieu of a reference.  The CMA is concerned that the merger raises competition issues in relation to digital advertising and the supply of GIFs.  Click here.
