Organisations with international operations need to manage risks and maximise the opportunities in their people strategies whilst complying with laws of multiple jurisdictions.
Wherever your employment issues arise, our team can deliver a coordinated and commercial approach worldwide.
Using our own network of offices in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia where we have employment lawyers on the ground advising on local laws, or working with our Global Network of firms covering almost 200 jurisdictions worldwide, we can provide a seamless service to project manage international advice or introduce you directly to leading employment lawyers where you need them.
We regularly advise clients wanting to expand their business into the UK. Working together with our corporate tax team we can help identify the appropriate corporate structure in the UK, recommend payroll providers and help draft and put in place the appropriate contracts of employment and policies required when employing staff locally for the first time.
Highlights of our experience
A large international company based in the Middle East was restructuring its business worldwide, which involved office closures and redundancies. We co-ordinated the legal advice across various jurisdictions and managed subsequent litigation in the UK.
A well-known German company in the technology sector recently needed local advice on the removal of their UK Country Manager. We provided strategic advice on all aspects of the exit, seeking to mitigate the risk while achieving the client’s commercial objectives, and liaising with German lawyers on cross border issues as required.
A world renowned bike manufacturer was looking to re-organise its business, closing headquarters in France and relocating within Europe. We advised on the closure, relocation and the employment issues that arose including contractual variations.
