At Charles Russell Speechlys we are a rich and diverse community of individuals who share a common purpose. 

You will not just become another robot; you will be encouraged to challenge yourself in a supportive and rewarding environment. With this in mind, we are looking for intelligent individuals with a real passion for the law, an inquisitive mind, plenty of team spirit and the drive to make your own mark.

Firstly, you will need to meet our minimum criteria. Whether you’re applying for our vacation schemes or assessment centres, you must have or be on track for a 2.1 or above, with AAB grades at A Level (or equivalent if applying from overseas).

Secondly, please remember that we usually recruit two years in advance and you must be eligible to start your training contract in the appropriate year we are recruiting for, i.e. at least in your penultimate year of your law degree, or final year of your non-law degree. 

Once you have submitted your application and the deadline has closed, our panel of reviewers will review all applications. Those shortlisted will be asked to take part in a situational judgement test and video interview.

We run Spring and Summer Vacation Schemes in each UK office. If you have applied for a vacation scheme and are successful from the video interview, you will then be invited to attend one of the vacation schemes. During the scheme you will be required to complete an assessment centre. At the end of the scheme we will review your performance at the assessment centre along with the feedback from your time in the firm and you may be offered a training contract.

If you are unable to attend our Vacation Schemes you are able to able directly to an Assessment Centre. If you are successful from the video interview, you will then be invited to attend an assessment centre day in July. Our assessment centres include a range of individual and group activities designed to assess the key skills required as a solicitor. These activities include a written exercise and an interview with a Partner and an Associate or member of HR.

At each stage of the process we are able to make reasonable adjustments for those who require it. In these instances you should contact us in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
