Paralegal Real Estate

Forming an integral part of the Real Estate team, the paralegal position will support on all conveyancing requirements in the team’s work for Commercial Real Estate, Portfolios and Units, Banking/Finance.

The Cheltenham office team consists of three Partners, two Senior Associates, three Associates, one Paralegal and one Trainee supported by the Internal Client Services team.  The recruit will be working primarily with Nigel Morton and Naomi Nettleton.

Nigel advises on conveyancing, residential property investment and development, secured lending and landlord and tenant matters. Nigel’s clients include national funds, housebuilders and landed estates involved in residential development and investment.

Naomi advises commercial clients on complex and challenging commercial property transactions. Naomi has wide experience in acquisitions and disposals of commercial property portfolios with particular expertise in the hotel and care home sectors.

Role and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list)

  • Document preparation: Licences, Contracts and Transfers
  • Document review
  • Managing and reviewing searches and Land Registry Titles
  • Transaction management
  • Dealing with mortgage redemptions
  • Transaction completions
  • Dealing with transactional post completion matters including SDLT returns, Land Registry applications, billing and balancing funds on account
  • Managing online data rooms
  • Document management
  • Transactional support
  • Point of contact for third parties

Person Specification

  • Be a licensed conveyancer or working towards this qualification (or equivalent legal qualification)
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar conveyancing role
  • Have real estate legal experience with knowledge of SDLT and Land Registry
  • Be confident to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent IT skills including Excel, Word and Worksite
  • Have the ability to develop effective working relationships at all levels
  • Be confident in both verbal and written communication with a diverse range of clients
  • Have a flexible approach and willing to go the extra mile
  • Highly motivated individual who will be able to deal effectively with conflicting requirements
  • Strong commitment to providing clients with a high quality service
  • High degree of accuracy/attention to detail
