HR Advisor for Europe (French Speaking)

Role and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list)
General
• Quickly build trusted relationships with Office Heads, Partners and other key stakeholders
• Position HR as a trusted advisor
• Take the lead and act as the subject expert in HR matters
• Ensure all aspects of HR processes (and any relevant European Office specific processes) and paperwork is completed correctly and accurately liaising with the wider HR Team as appropriate
• Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition, Reward and L&D teams when appropriate
• Consider new initiatives which could improve efficiencies within the offices, HR team and wider firm
• Utilise French language skills as appropriate, for example recruiting of new staff, liaising with insurance brokers
• Travel to each European Office/UK as and when required
Employee Relations
• Take the lead on complex employee relations activities, seeking guidance from the HR Business Partners in London when appropriate 

  •  Provide guidance to Office Heads/Partners on operational ER issues such as absence management, grievance and disciplinary issues, performance management, family friendly leave


Resourcing
• Where required, take the lead on resource planning with Office Heads including resourcing and recruitment methods and process, defining resource requirements and timelines
• Brief the Talent Acquisition team where appropriate
• Conduct interviews in French and English
• Manage interview feedback and negotiate offers consistent with the firm’s pay strategy for recruits in conjunction with the Talent Acquisition and Reward Teams
• Lead and manage any visa/immigration processes, liaising with the Talent Acquisition team as appropriate


HR Procedures
• Complete the annual salary review process for the European Offices, working with the Reward Manager as necessary. Challenge and ensure robust justifications for bonus awards are given by Office Heads
• Drive the annual performance review process for the European Offices
• Complete the annual promotions process for any potential candidates within the European Offices
• Work with Reward Manager to ensure data for each European Office is correct on an ongoing basis
• Input, where required, into the annual budgeting process for the relevant Office
• Maintain a working knowledge of the HR Information System (“People Hub”)
 


Person specification
• Experience of operating at HR Advisor level is required, within legal or professional services
• Experience of delivering high quality, commercial HR advice within a matrix management structure
• A working knowledge of relevant employment law is desirable, but not essential.
• Some experience of resolution of complex employee relations matters
• Excellent communication skills and the acumen to effectively influence a number of stakeholders within different client groups & locations
• Professional manner with the ability to work collaboratively across the firm and the HR team
• Ability to balance competing priorities and manage to tight deadlines
• Credible, articulate and comfortable with systems, data and analysis
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• CIPD qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Fluent in English and French languages
